Sibling rivalry is taken to hideous extremes by two elderly sisters (Bette Davis, pictured right, and Joan Crawford, left). |

| The plot takes too long to get going and runs out of steam long before the actresses do - but there are quite a few scary moments, and it’s great, campy fun with both stars leaving teeth-marks on the scenery. Ernest Haller’s stylish cinematography rightly won him an Oscar nomination. | | “Working with (Bette) Davis was my greatest challenge ever, and I mean that kindly. Bette likes to scream and yell and I just sit and knit. During Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? I knitted a scarf from Hollywood to Malibu.” | | | | (Joan Crawford) | | “The best time I ever had with Joan Crawford was when I pushed her down the stairs in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? ” | | | (Bette Davis) | |
