This is one of those 40-minute movies they show at IMAX cinemas, and it makes effective use of new technology to bring flying dinosaurs and their fascinating prehistoric world to life. Most of us know a bit about pteranodons, pterodactyls and archaeopteryxes, but there are plenty of more recent discoveries with which you are less likely to be familiar. The sight of the gigantic quetzacoatlus alone (pictured) – the height of a giraffe with a wingspan of forty feet – is worth the price of admission. The film’s most refreshing aspect, however, is that it introduces to the cinema a presenter who does his own writing, knows what he’s talking about and presents information in a clear, vibrant and interesting manner, without patronising his audience.
His name, of course, is David Attenborough and he’s 85 years old.
