British surgeon with unfortunate name of Blood (Errol Flynn) turns Caribbean pirate. |

| Magnificent swashbuckler well liked by critics and audiences. It made stars of Errol Flynn and teenage actress Olivia de Havilland into stars (they went on to make seven more films together). Michael (Casablanca) Curtiz directs the mayhem with panache, and this remains probably the most exciting pirate movie of all time. The 119-minute version is greatly to be preferred. | |
