| Danny Kaye is at his best in this much loved but heavy-handed spoof on mediaeval swashbucklers, and the "chalice from the palace" routine remains a classic. Whether or not you appreciate Kaye, the songs are jolly and the supporting cast performs wonders with some fairly mediaeval jokes. Compared with Mel Brooks's Robin Hood: Men In Tights (1994), it's a masterpiece. | |
