Strait-laced English barrister (John Cleese) is lured into a life of crime.

Mean-spirited, cruel but (sporadically) very funny comedy which won international success by telling everyone what hell it is to be English. Though almost 80, Charles Crichton directs with pace and panache; the performances (especially Kevin Kline’s) are funny; and several set-pieces - notably the one where Cleese is caught with more than his trousers down - are bliss.
"A very nasty film. It is brutal, lustful, sadistic - in short, it has all the elements of comedy. Look at Rambo. "
