Two enormous computers - one American, one Russian - unite in an attempt to take over the world. |

| | A variation on the Frankenstein legend, but with computer-age overtones. Acting, script and special effects are all above average, although the Cold War setting has inevitably dated, there’s some unnecessary comic relief, and the first half is more inventive and thrilling than the second. It’s also a bit reminiscent of 2001, where the spaceship computer HAL had similar delusions of grandeur. Whatever the reason, despite a warm critical reception this film never reached the public that its merits deserved. | | |
