Federico Fellini’s reminiscences (the title means “I remember”) of growing up in the Italian provinces at the time of Mussolini. |
Reviewed by Chris Tookey
|
| No masterpiece of narrative structure - but its series of fragmented episodes and images, mostly joyful but some melancholic, make this an evocatively nostalgic quasi-autobiography. There's a darker side too: it's a memorable portrait of a people's childlike submission to fascist authority. | |
