Splendidly Gothic silent, which plays fast and loose with the source material, but has undeniable power and atmosphere. Norman Kerry is a bit wimpish as Phoebus, the guy who finally gets the girl, but Miller is sweet; and Chaney, though mannered by modern standards, is still curiously impressive. |
