Frenetic Feydeau farce, typically contrived but amusingly acted and directed. Autant-Lara emphasises its theatricality by setting it in a playhouse, but then moves between this and more naturalistic locations. Mildly saucy, but banned in some parts of Britain and attacked by some US critics as being lewd and immoral.
