A projectionist accused of stealing a watch (Buster Keaton, pictured) dreams himself into the movie which is on screen, and becomes a great detective. |

| Surreal comedy which wastes little time on exposition and sets out on a succession of marvellously inventive sight-gags. The witty special effects are impressive for their time. It's a silent comedy masterpiece which many consider Keaton's best. Its influence can clearly be seen on much later films such as The Purple Rose of Cairo and The Last Action Hero. | |
