Anti-isolationist tract for its time, dedicated to proving - somewhat literally - that no man is an island. Its preachiness and theatricality are more than offset by an array of fine performances, especially from Michael Redgrave and James Mason (pictured). An untypically serious and visually imaginative film for the Boulting Brothers.
