Fireflies in the Garden is a low-budget, melodramatic American indie written and directed by Dennis Lee. It’s a family reunion picture with the usual trimmings: guilt, recriminations and oodles of angst. Despite the star names - Willem Dafoe, Julia Roberts (pictured), Emily Watson and Ryan Reynolds – it’s too verbose and over-familiar to survive long in the cinema.
