A gangster (Al Pacino) tries to go straight. |
Reviewed by Chris Tookey
|
| Brian de Palma’s disappointing attempt to produce a Hispanic answer to The Godfather. Despite strong performances by Al Pacino and Sean Penn, and a thrilling climactic chase through Grand Central Station, the film falls far short of De Palma’s work in The Untouchables. The screenplay seems to have been written by a computer programmed with previous, better gangster movies; and, at two hours twenty, the film is grotesquely over-length. | |
