An odd title for a film which has nothing to do with the Northwest Passage. It's an exciting action epic of its era, much praised for Tracy's performance and its Technicolor cinematography, but now hard to watch. It suffers more than most westerns from its dated, frankly racist attitude towards Indians. Part Two was never made. Maybe they would have found the Northwest Passage in that one.
